The Tounge Puncher makes it a lot easier to feed those tricky cables when I'm working on my own. Saves me going in and out of the roof to check where the cable went.

Iâve used the tongue puncher a couple of times now and it makes it so easy running cables down walls especially by yourself. Knowing exactly where to drill down through the top plate and noggin if such a time saver and can save multiple trips into the ceiling.

I was nearly put off by the price tag but I've used it once and it's already worth every cent. You still have to line up your first hole through the top plate, but once your in it lights up the wall cavity like a christmas tree, and did a perfect job of catching the jack chain for me

I recently bought the Tongue Puncher 90mm LITE from Cartel Tool Co, and honestly, itâs one of the best tools Iâve added to my kit in years. Iâve used it on several jobs now, and it saves a heap of time when running cable through walls and tight spaces. The build quality is solid, itâs lightweight, and you can tell itâs been designed by people who actually know the trade.
The LED light is a nice touch too â makes visibility so much better when working in ceilings or dark wall cavities. Itâs one of those tools you donât realise how much you needed until youâve got it.
Delivery was quick, packaging was spot on, and the team at Cartel clearly take pride in their products. Definitely worth every cent â highly recommend to anyone in the trade.

5 stars for the actual product itself. Super long lasting battery and amazing time saver and helps find your way through the wall cavity when youâre up in the ceiling space. Only bummer is, most existing houses are built with 70mm studs not 90mm. Most of the time I canât use this tool as it just falls out of the wall on a 70mm stud cavity. Please please please make this variant.

Sooo useful! Save so much time using the tounge puncher when working on your own. Nothing better then going from the roof to the ground and not having to worry looking for the tounge and knowing its out ready to tape the cable on!

When you have to work solo this is extremely helpful and can save a trip back and forth from in the roof

Does The Tongue Puncher work on walls with insulation?
Under Australian residential building/compliance standards, internal walls are not required to have insulation, and most internal walls do not include it unless specifically designed for thermal zoning or soundproofing (both of which are uncommon).
In uninsulated walls, the COB LED provides clear visibility of the tool and cutout from the top plate, giving you a bright target to aim your yellow tongue at for smooth and efficient installation.

No, the Tongue Puncher 90mm LITE is designed for 90mm wide x 50mm high wall cutouts.

The Tongue Puncher 90mm LITE is purpose-built for 90mm wall cavities.
- For deeper cavities: The tool will not seat properly, as the rear spikes will lack a surface to press against.
- For shallower cavities: The tool will not seat as intended, as the front grips will not engage.
For optimal performance, use the Tongue Puncher in 90mm wall cavities.

Noggins are common in most internal walls, with older builds often having full-width 90mm noggins and more modern homes likely using 70mm noggins.
This is where the Tongue Puncherâs COB LED proves its value. The bright light shines through the gaps between the noggin and plasterboard, providing a clear target for your yellow tongue.
